The Minnesota Vikings traded edge rusher Jonathan Greenard to the Philadelphia Eagles for two third-round picks during the second night of the NFL draft. The Vikings sent Greenard, a 2024 Pro Bowler, along with one of their seventh-round picks (244th overall), to the Eagles in exchange for the 98th overall selection this year and a third-rounder in 2027. Following the trade, the 28-year-old Greenard agreed to a four-year, $100 million contract extension with the Eagles, including $50 million in guaranteed money. Greenard was set to have a significant salary cap hit this season, creating financial flexibility for the Vikings as they aim to rebuild their roster. The Eagles needed an edge rusher after Jaelen Phillips' departure. Greenard became expendable due to the emergence of Dallas Turner (2024 first-round pick) and the health of Andrew Van Ginkel. Greenard was limited to 12 games in 2025 due to a shoulder injury. He recorded three sacks after having 12 in his Vikings debut in 2024. The trade gave the Vikings a fifth top-100 selection in this year's draft, plus four more in 2027. They drafted Florida defensive tackle Caleb Banks in the first round (18th overall) and Cincinnati linebacker Jake Golday (51st overall) in the second round after a trade with Carolina.
