A United Airlines plane made contact with a lamppost and a delivery truck on a New Jersey highway during its landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, according to officials. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the Boeing 767 landed safely after arriving from Venice, Italy, and an investigation is underway. No injuries were reported on the plane, but the truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The jet was carrying 221 passengers and 10 crew members. The FAA stated that the plane struck a light pole on the New Jersey Turnpike around 2 p.m. local time. The Port Authority indicated that the plane caused damage to a light post and a tractor trailer. The truck driver suffered minor cuts. United Airlines said it would conduct a flight safety investigation, and the crew has been removed from service.
