ST THOMAS, Jamaica — Following the tragic stabbing death of a Seaforth High School student, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Senator Marlon Morgan, has reiterated the ministry's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding school violence. The incident, which resulted in the death of Kland Doyle, occurred on Monday afternoon when a conflict escalated near the Morant Bay Transport Centre. In response, the police have detained three individuals, including one who is believed to have played a direct role in the stabbing.
Morgan visited Seaforth High to convey his condolences and expressed profound sadness over the incident. "Every Jamaican can understand our deep sorrow at the loss of young Doyle," he stated, extending sympathies to the bereaved family, friends, and the broader school community. He highlighted the heart-wrenching consequences of such violence, asserting that no parent should ever face the fear of sending their child to school without knowing they will return home safely.
Reiterating the government's firm stance against violence and bullying, Morgan stressed that schools must be safe havens for education. "We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to violence and bullying. We aim to discourage maladaptive and antisocial behaviors, ensuring our schools remain secure environments for learning," he affirmed.
