Hiba, a Sudanese woman, and her family, shared their story of seeking refuge. They had to sell their furniture because they thought they would not spend another winter in Jordan. Hiba and her husband, Ibrahim, along with their three children, were displaced multiple times after surviving an attack. Ibrahim, injured in Sudan, struggled to get proper medical care. The family, belonging to Sudan’s Nuba minority, faced uncertainty and violence. In 2019, with the regime of Omar al-Bashir facing collapse, they considered their options, knowing that many Sudanese were traveling to Egypt or Jordan.
