A swimming development program is providing opportunities for students in Jamaica, teaching them water safety and life skills. The Progress Learn to Swim Classes (PLSC) hosted a swim meet to showcase the progress of students from various schools. The program aims to help students become proficient swimmers and gain employment as lifeguards. Ainsworth Reid, the PLSC Programmes Coordinator, highlighted the program's goal of creating life skills from an early age. The swim meet included events like object find, paddle boat races, and freestyle competitions. One parent, Laytoya Rowe, expressed pride in her child's participation. Teachers also shared their excitement at seeing their students compete. The Acting Vice Principal of Edith Dalton High School, Rohan Gray, observed the meet and considered introducing similar opportunities at the high school level. St Jude’s Primary emerged as the champion of the meet.
