During the grand finale of Community Futures North Okanagan's 11th annual Enterprize Challenge on May 7, six business stories were presented. Sarah Draht, founder of StrongHER Self-Defense, took the stage with energy, describing her mission to empower women through affordable self-defense classes drawing from her martial arts background. Draht, a two-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion, quickly engaged the audience. Even when her microphone cut out, she continued, her voice carrying through the auditorium. Draht said winning would mean less fear and more confidence for women. She won the competition, earning the People’s Choice Award and a business services prize package worth over $24,000. The stories, including Chey Kidd and Kurtis Peskleway’s Fr, all came from the heart.
