Police in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, are increasing their road safety efforts. On Friday, May 15, 2026, they distributed 30 helmets to motorcyclists in Junction as part of a road safety initiative. Superintendent Coleridge Minto reported that the division has recorded 12 road fatalities this year, a slight decrease compared to 14 in the same period last year. However, motorcyclists continue to be disproportionately represented in fatalities. In 2024, 14 motorcyclists died in crashes, and in 2025, 16 died. So far this year, six motorcyclists have died in crashes in St. Elizabeth. The police are also increasing public education on road safety and have tasked officers to speak on the issue in schools, churches, and community meetings.
