Spanish authorities are investigating a suspected hantavirus case. A woman has been tested after traveling on the same flight as a Dutch woman who stayed on the MV Hondius cruise ship and later died from the virus. The woman is showing coughing symptoms. She was placed in an isolation room in the hospital, and a PCR test was carried out, which will be analyzed at the National Microbiology Centre. The results are expected in the first 24 hours. The Spanish Secretary of State for Health, Javier Padilla, said that this is a pretty unlikely case. The deceased Dutch woman was on a plane from Johannesburg to the Netherlands on April 25. She was removed before take-off and died on April 26 in a Johannesburg hospital, and later tested positive for hantavirus.
