KINGSTON, Jamaica — The spotlight will shine on Jamaica's promising young footballers this Sunday, April 26, at the All-Star Jamaica youth showcase, hosted at Ashenheim Stadium within the Jamaica College grounds. This event will feature a dynamic North versus South matchup, showcasing the finest Under-14 and Under-16 players selected from urban school competitions. The highlight of the day will be the clash between the North Urban All-Star Under-16 team and their South Urban All-Star counterparts, promising a thrilling contest. This initiative, spearheaded by Leighton Davis, is dedicated to scouting and promoting youth talent from schoolboy football. It has evolved into a vital platform linking grassroots players to more organized opportunities, including school competitions and national youth programs. The participants in this showcase are chosen from high schools engaged in the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Under-14 and Under-16 tournaments. Coaches put forward their nominations, which are then meticulously reviewed by the organizers to finalize the teams. This showcase is considered a crucial developmental milestone, especially for Under-16 players transitioning to more competitive levels and broader prospects. The event will kick off with the Under-14 match at 2:15 PM, followed by the Under-16 feature event at 4:00 PM, with gates opening at 1:00 PM.
