Tired of everyday chores? A life on a luxury cruise ship might be ideal. British expat Fraser Allen has made this dream a reality. Since December 2024, he's lived on Villa Vie Residences' cruise ship, the Odyssey, enjoying a carefree lifestyle. At 58, Allen is single and halfway through a three-year lease. His travels span South America, North America, Japan, the Philippines, the South Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand. Allen values the ship's all-inclusive care. The fees cover meals (including wine and beer), laundry, cabin services, gym, fitness classes, sauna, steam room, pickleball, and swimming pools. Allen's only extra expense is beer outside mealtimes, which he finds reasonable. The ship provides everything, and the cabins offer enough space to relax. Outdoor decks provide ample space to enjoy the horizon. The pool area is rarely crowded. The all-inclusive lifestyle costs Allen $125 daily for an inside cabin, which is more affordable than an outside one. Additional expenses, like toiletries and excursions, range from $1,000 to $2,000 monthly. Allen funds his travels through savings.
