The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is set to upgrade the Kumasi Ridge Substation to improve power reliability. The maintenance is scheduled from Wednesday, May 6, to Saturday, May 9, 2026. This upgrade is part of the government’s Transformer Replacement and Upgrade Programme, aimed at strengthening infrastructure. The project involves replacing the existing transformer with a higher-capacity unit. Customers in the Kumasi Ridge area will experience phased power interruptions lasting approximately six hours. ECG expects the upgrade to increase supply capacity, reduce system overloads, minimize outages, and improve voltage stability. Detailed outage schedules will be shared through official communication channels. The company acknowledges the inconvenience of the temporary interruptions while emphasizing the project's importance for long-term infrastructure improvement.
