Poet Marcia Jackson is thrilled to host the International Reggae And World Music Awards (IRAWMA) on May 17. Jackson is also competing for her third consecutive win in the Best Poet/Spoken Word Entertainer category. The event will be held at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center in Florida. Jackson is excited about hosting the 43rd IRAWMA. She sees this as a moment where poetry and music unite. Jackson, originally from Portland, has a diverse background, including experience as a dancehall deejay and actress. Her preparation includes experience in dub poetry and organizing events. The IRAWMA, founded by Ephraim Martin, has honored many artists since 1982. This year, there are 40 categories and special honors.
