Manchester High Launches Night Football: A Community Celebration

Manchester High School in Jamaica recently launched its inaugural night football competition, 'Under Di Light.' The seven-a-side matches, in collaboration with Julex Auto Sales and Footballin90, began on April 19 and are scheduled to conclude on June 21. According to coach Okevie Lambert, the event offers a professional match-day experience for families. Principal Jasford Gabriel praised the event as a historic moment for the school and the wider Manchester community, emphasizing the positive atmosphere for families and the developmental benefits for players. Gabriel highlighted the fast-paced gameplay and the suitability of the venue. He also acknowledged the support of title sponsor Julex Auto Sales. The Council of Voluntary Social Services (CVSS) is hosting a three-day training workshop from May 12 to 14, focused on strengthening civil society organizations in western Jamaica. The workshop, supported by the EU-funded AIM Programme, will address key capacity gaps in project design, management, and accountability. Nancy Pinchas, executive director of the CVSS, emphasized the importance of equipping organizations with tools for effective project implementation. The workshop will include interactive sessions led by experienced facilitators, covering topics such as community engagement, monitoring and evaluation, project proposal writing, and gender and human rights.
