Opposition Spokesman on Transport, Mikael Phillips, has stated that the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) is in its worst state in nearly 30 years, with losses exceeding $100 billion over the past decade. Phillips made this assertion during his contribution to the Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives. He stated that the JUTC has been languishing. According to Phillips, the JUTC is in its most pathetic state since its establishment in 1998. He added that the company is projected to lose another $14.8 billion this financial year. Phillips criticized the administration's apathy, which he believes has led to the company's current state. The JUTC's financial situation has raised concerns about the future of public transportation in Jamaica.
