The Jamaican government has initiated a $1.42 billion project in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to modernize land administration. This initiative aims to enhance land rights security, strengthen institutions, and promote sustainable development by simplifying land ownership processes. Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness emphasized the importance of land titles as a foundation for opportunity. The project, running from 2025 to 2030, will boost efficiency in land administration by providing the National Land Agency (NLA) with new digital infrastructure and training locals in geospatial planning. A Land Administration Innovation Centre (LAIC) will be established in Kingston to facilitate this. Minister of Land Titling and Settlements Robert Montague noted that approximately 55% of Jamaica's 900,000 land parcels are currently titled. KOICA's Country Director in the Dominican Republic, Sook Jin Byun, expressed confidence that the project would significantly modernize Jamaica's land administration system.
