The Financial Investigations Division (FID) of Jamaica is enhancing its capacity to combat financial crime. They have secured access to Asset Reality, a global platform designed to assist law enforcement in managing and liquidating virtual assets. This move, which began on April 27, 2026, provides the FID with the tools to trace and seize cryptocurrency and other digital assets. The platform also supports the handling of virtual assets linked to investigations. According to the FID, this is part of a broader effort to track illicit funds, including those moving through blockchain-based transactions. Dennis Chung, the FID's Chief Technical Director, highlighted the need for Jamaica's enforcement capabilities to adapt quickly to the evolving tactics of financial criminals. He emphasized that the platform will strengthen the FID's ability to recover illicit assets and protect the integrity of Jamaica's financial system.
