KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Companies Office of Jamaica (COJ) is on the verge of launching a mobile application designed to streamline access to a variety of business services while providing timely reminders for filings. Shellie Leon, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Registrar, stated that this app is a crucial part of the agency’s digital transformation initiative, aimed at improving convenience and service efficiency. During a Jamaica Information Service (JIS) ‘Think Tank’ event on Thursday, Leon detailed that the app will aid companies and business-name registrants by sending alerts for annual returns and renewals, thus ensuring they stay compliant with legal requirements. "The COJ app will notify companies about their annual return filings and remind businesses to renew their names," she explained. The application will also allow users to check the status of their submitted documents, enabling them to monitor progress in real time. Furthermore, frequent visitors to the COJ offices will have the option to request service tickets via the app prior to their visit, which aims to minimize wait times and improve the overall customer experience. Leon emphasized that these functionalities are intended to tackle longstanding issues regarding delays and accessibility. She mentioned that the digital platform will complement the agency’s growing array of online services, which already allow users to register businesses, submit annual returns, renew or dissolve business names
