Jamaica's casino gaming regulators are increasing training and coordination with law enforcement and financial crime agencies. This is in preparation for the eventual activation of integrated resort casino developments. The Casino Gaming Commission recently hosted a three-day training workshop in Kingston with Gaming Laboratories International. Officials from the commission and partner agencies, including the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission, attended. The workshop focused on casino licensing, slot machine engineering, and forensic investigations. Cleveland Allen, Casino Gaming Commission Chief Executive Officer, stated that the training is crucial as Jamaica diversifies its tourism product. Allen did not specify when casino gaming operations would begin. Projects linked to casino gaming include Harmony Cove and Celebration Jamaica. The involvement of agencies like MOCA and the Financial Investigations Division highlights the regulatory scrutiny expected in the sector. Gaming Laboratories International aims to help establish a credible and well-regulated market. The training intends to ensure the market launches with integrity. The goal is to make sure policies and regulations are clear, concise, honest, accurate, and fair. The populace needs to trust that it’s well regulated.
