An Egyptian family of six, previously released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, was rearrested and may be deported. The family, who arrived in the US in 2022 seeking asylum, had been held in a detention center for ten months. A judge had ruled for their release pending a decision on their asylum case. The family's lawyer stated that they were already placed on a flight to Michigan, with the intention of deporting them to Egypt. The family was originally arrested in June after the husband allegedly threw Molotov cocktails at a rally supporting Israeli hostages.
