The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced the observance of Nationwide Fire Safety Week 2026 from May 4th to 10th. The initiative will focus on strengthening fire prevention and safety measures in healthcare facilities across the country. This year’s theme is “Safe School, Safe Hospital and Fire Safety Aware Society – Together for Fire Prevention.” The campaign aims to raise awareness and promote a culture of safety. The Ministry has provided resources, including a schedule of activities and a Fire Safety Assessment Checklist. Healthcare facilities are advised to conduct fire safety assessments and submit reports. The initiative is organized in coordination with the Directorate General of Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guards. The observance will target district-level health facilities, hospitals associated with medical colleges, and multi-speciality institutions.
