The Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA) is actively promoting environmental sustainability through various initiatives. They are advocating for collective action against climate change, including tree planting and broader climate awareness campaigns in the FCT and other states. During an advocacy campaign in Abuja, themed “Walk for a Greener Nigeria,” Deputy Comptroller-General Timi Bomodi praised COWA's efforts as a commendable step toward environmental and ecological preservation. The campaign, which started with planting over 1,000 trees, highlights COWA’s commitment to a greener environment and improved public health. Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, President of COWA, explained that the “Green Border Initiative” aims to raise awareness about climate change and its impact. The initiative has already been implemented in border communities like Idiroko, Seme, and Ufom, with plans for further expansion nationwide. COWA emphasizes that climate change affects everyone, regardless of location, and that pollution and poor air quality are concerns for all.
