Google has announced a major update for Android, introducing Gemini Intelligence. This new AI aims to automate tasks, improve browsing, and personalize devices. CEO Sundar Pichai revealed that Gemini features will roll out on Samsung Galaxy and Pixel smartphones this summer, with more Android devices to follow later this year, including watches, cars, glasses, and laptops. Gemini Intelligence integrates hardware with AI-powered software to help users perform daily tasks more efficiently. For example, users can ask the AI to book a bike ride, search emails, or add items to an online shopping cart. Gemini can also use device screen and image context to execute tasks. The company emphasizes that Gemini will only act with user permission and stop when instructed. The Android interface will also get a design update based on Material 3 Expressive, focusing on reducing distractions and improving animations. Furthermore, Android will integrate Gemini into Chrome to enhance browsing.
