President John Dramani Mahama has commenced construction of a modern, 24-hour market in Asesewa, Eastern Region, fulfilling a 2016 campaign promise. The Friday ceremony was part of his 'Resetting Ghana' tour. Addressing residents, he acknowledged the delay and reaffirmed his commitment. The Asesewa project is one of 261 across the country, designed to boost local economies. The new market, including stores, stalls, a food court, clinic, and bank, aims to revitalize the town, which once thrived as a trading center since 1935. President Mahama emphasized the women's bank for traders' safety. He also highlighted the importance of road infrastructure, directing the local MP to secure funding. The President expressed confidence that the market will restore Asesewa's commercial prominence.
