KINGSTON, Jamaica — A bartender has been detained and charged with simple larceny and larceny as a servant amid accusations of failing to disburse winnings at a gaming establishment in Clarendon. The accused, 40-year-old Shanna-Lee Sterling, resides on Sevens Road in May Pen, Clarendon. According to police reports, a patron was at the gaming shop playing one of the machines when he won a substantial amount of $21,000. After the win, a ticket confirming the prize was printed and given to Sterling, who allegedly told the winner to return later for his cash, as the manager was unavailable to process the payment at that moment. Concerned about the delay, the man returned weeks later to inquire about his winnings and subsequently lodged a complaint with the manager. Investigations by the shop owner revealed that Sterling had already cashed the winning ticket and taken the funds. This prompted the owner to notify the police, leading to Sterling's arrest and formal charges. Plans for her court appearance are currently being finalized.
