(WSVN) - The NFL Draft showcased several former Miami Hurricanes players, with offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa being the first to be chosen. The New York Giants made him the 10th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, as announced by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. In a heartfelt moment, Mauigoa celebrated with his family, sharing hugs and joy, before embracing Goodell. He becomes the first offensive lineman from the Hurricanes to be drafted in the first round since Ereck Flowers was picked by the Giants in 2015. Expressing his enthusiasm for joining the Giants, Mauigoa said, “I’ll die about this [expletive], man. Man, I’m ready to die for you, man. I know a lot of things has happened, bro, but I’m ready to die for you, bro. Born and raised in American Samoa, I never thought I could be here man. If I can do it, you can do it. Simple as that.” Mauigoa played a crucial role in Miami's offensive line, helping the team reach the College Football Playoff national championship game last January at Hard Rock Stadium. Known as C.C., he finished his college career as a first-team All-American and started all 42 games at right tackle during his three years in Miami. His adaptability may see him starting at right guard for the Giants in his rookie season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers followed suit by selecting Canes edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. with the 15th overall pick. Bain, an All-American, anchored Miami’s defense and concluded his senior year with 9.5 sacks, totaling 20.5 sacks
