The Council of Voluntary Social Services (CVSS) in Jamaica is hosting a three-day training workshop series in its Western Region from May 12 to 14. The workshop, themed "From Idea to Impact – The Project Cycle," aims to strengthen community-based and non-governmental organizations (CBOs/NGOs) as effective contributors to governance and development. This initiative is part of the EU-funded AIM Programme. Nancy Pinchas, the executive director of the CVSS, stated that the series was designed to address key capacity gaps in project design, management, and accountability among civil society organizations (CSOs). The workshop features interactive sessions led by experienced facilitators, covering topics like community engagement, project proposal writing, and gender and human rights. Pinchas noted that the training will provide practical, results-oriented learning experiences. The Montego Bay series is part of CVSS’s commitment to providing training across Jamaica’s regions. It follows successful sessions held earlier this year and is part of a broader effort to equip CSOs with the tools to design and implement impactful initiatives. The workshop will conclude on May 14 with a collaborative session to celebrate the participants’ achievements. Additionally, there will be a discussion on legislation and policy for the sector as Jamaica prepares to introduce a new Non-Profit Organisations (NPO) Act in October 2026.
