The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has announced a significant decrease in crime within the Kingston Central Division. Police confirmed no violent incidents have occurred this year in communities like Rose Gardens. This progress was revealed during a town hall meeting at Pentab High School. Divisional Commander Superintendent Mishka Forbes described the achievement as a major turnaround. The police attribute this success to consistent community engagement, monthly Community Intervention Team meetings, and joint efforts with various stakeholders, including Project STAR. Superintendent Forbes noted that residents have become more receptive and actively involved in finding solutions to long-standing problems. Major crimes in Rose Gardens, including murder, shootings, robberies, break-ins, and rape, have decreased steadily. Ambassador Alison Stone Roofe praised the progress and highlighted the importance of social transformation alongside law enforcement. Project STAR sponsor Keith Duncan emphasized the role of trust-building and long-term commitment in achieving the crime reduction. The Rose Gardens experience is now seen as a model for other vulnerable communities. Police officials believe that combining targeted policing with social intervention, economic support, and community leadership can reshape high-risk areas across Jamaica.
