A 24-year-old woman from New South Wales died in a hospital after falling from Mount Arapiles in Victoria, Australia. She was injured on Monday morning and required a helicopter rescue. Paramedics winched her off the rock face and transported her to a hospital in Melbourne with critical upper body injuries. Acting Senior Sergeant Dave McIvor reported that the woman died overnight. The death will be investigated by the coroner, and no further details were provided. The woman was climbing on a section of Mount Arapiles known as Organ Pipes when she fell around 11:30 am. She was climbing with a group. Police, paramedics, and the SES were called to assist with the rescue. Intensive care paramedics treated her for over an hour. Mount Arapiles is near Horsham, about 270km northwest of Melbourne. It is described as a 'trad climbing' area where hooks and grips are placed into the rock face. The Organ Pipes rock face is close to a campsite used by climbers, and the tallest route is about 37m.
