A Romanian immigrant, Rebecca Fratila-Ilies, is now wanted by ICE after allegedly violating her probation. She was previously released early from prison after being convicted of sexually abusing a middle-school boy. She was arrested in December 2022 in Virginia for carnal knowledge of a child and statutory rape. She was released from a Staunton prison and moved to North Carolina, where she was arrested by the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation on March 25, 2025. ICE is seeking to deport her due to her sex crime convictions. She is a lawful permanent resident, but her crimes make her eligible for removal. ICE has placed an immigration detainer on her. Fratila-Ilies arrived in the US as a child and received a green card in 2006. An immigration judge ordered her deported in 2017, but she won relief from removal in 2022. She remains in police custody pending the outcome of her probation violation case.
