The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) forecasts a record harvest for Brazil in 2026, with the production of cereals, legumes, and oilseeds expected to reach 348.7 million tons. This represents a 0.7% increase compared to the 2025 harvest. The total area estimated for harvest has also expanded to 83.3 million hectares, a 2.1% increase year-over-year. Soybeans continue to be the main driver of Brazilian agribusiness, with an estimated production of 174.1 million tons in 2026, a 4.8% increase, setting a new historical record. Mato Grosso remains the largest producer. Corn production is estimated at 138.2 million tons, a 2.5% decrease, while the first harvest showed growth. Brazilian coffee production is estimated at 66.1 million 60-kilo bags, the highest volume since 2002. The Center-West region leads in grain production, with an estimated 174.5 million tons, accounting for 50% of the national harvest. Cotton production is estimated at 9 million tons, with Bahia gaining prominence. The production of beans shows a decrease, raising concerns about the balance between supply and internal consumption. Wheat production is expected to be 7.3 million tons, a 6.8% decrease. Despite climatic challenges and market fluctuations, the overall scenario for Brazilian agribusiness remains positive for 2026.
