The appointment of the new Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) board is still underway, according to Minister Kelebeng. The minister declined to provide a timeline. The previous board, chaired by Marumo Morule, was dismissed due to a lack of alignment with the ministry's strategic direction. Board members, appointed in 2019 and whose terms were renewed in 2024, received termination letters in early February. Some observers questioned the dismissal of National Sport Associations (NSA) representatives. Following elections in November 2023, Kelebogile Mmaneke Maplanka and Katlholo Mosimanegape, as NSAs representatives, received their appointment letters on April 22, 2024, effective April 1, 2024. The board also included representatives from Women in Sport Botswana and various ministries. The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) president, Tshepo Sitale, stated that the absence of the BNSC Board does not affect the operational level of the BNOC and BNSC, as both have CEOs and management in place. The Ministry of Sport and Arts is providing operational direction to the BNSC.
