Former interim president of the Jamaica Cycling Federation and CEO of Discover Jamaica by Bike, Dennis Chung, believes a new bike tour is a major step toward health tourism. He shared this on Wednesday, highlighting that this is the first real push into this area. The event, which will take place from May 1 to 6, is in its sixth year and is organized by Chung, who also works as Chief Technical Director at the Financial Investigations Division. The goal is to create a positive impact on tourism, with the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) offering significant support. The tour aims to provide opportunities for local cyclists to work as tour guides. Riders will enjoy the scenery and local food. Chung expects around 35 to 40 participants for the whole event, with numbers possibly increasing during the rides. The tour starts in Montego Bay, then goes to Negril, where participants can enjoy the beach and local restaurants. The next day, the ride goes from Negril to Mandeville. There will be stops at Border and Middle Quarters for food. The journey includes a challenging climb up Spur Tree Hill. Day three involves riding from Mandeville to Kingston, with more stops at local restaurants. Cyclists who have participated before will be happy to return to Portland. After a day in Portland, the group will head back to St James, with a lunch stop in Ocho Rios.
