Bali, a popular destination for Australian travelers, is experiencing a rise in serious crime, leading to safety concerns. Recent cases include kidnapping, torture, murder, and organized crime, including foreign fugitives. Police spokesperson Ariasandy stated that Bali remains a safe tourism destination and that such incidents are often triggered by issues in the perpetrators' home countries. Recent cases of concern include the kidnapping of Ukrainian Igor Komarov in February, with ransom demands. Body parts identified as Komarov's were later found. Six foreign nationals were involved in the suspected kidnapping and murder. In March, Dutch national Rene Pouw was killed in Kuta. Two Brazilian nationals are suspects. Interpol Red Notices have been issued. The incidents have raised concerns about the safety of tourists and the potential for increased crime on the island.
