A bearer employed at a financial institution was shot dead during a robbery attempt on Half-Way Tree Road, St Andrew, on Friday afternoon. The deceased, identified as 68-year-old Lawrence Kessna, was killed after a struggle with a would-be thief. The police are condemning the act of violence and increasing high visibility operations. Reports indicate Kessna had withdrawn money from a bank when he was attacked. The attacker escaped, and Kessna was pronounced dead at the hospital. The police are urging businesses to ensure strong security measures when transporting large sums of cash.
